Laura's Charity Advent Calendar

Every year we feel humbled to work with amazing organisations doing incredible work to help people, animals, the planet and more. This advent Laura Croudace, our Head of Impact, is highlighting charities Christmas appeals which we’ve worked with and/or support.

Laura has shared some of her favourite ways to help charities and turn it into a daily video. You can follow her daily videos on her LinkedIn where she’s speaking about the work we do with them.

Laura has captured a handful of her top charities we’ve worked with that you can donate to, or share the work of on social media to highlight the important work they do.

AgeUK

We are truly blessed to work with AgeUK and their mission to support older people over Christmas to feel less isolated. It is immeasurable in terms of the impact they will be having over the Christmas period.

We love the work they do supporting older people like Brenda, who lost her husband 20 years ago, and in her words has ‘nobody to spoil’ anymore or ‘bake for’ over the Christmas holidays.

Bipolar UK

Bipolar UK are a small team of 18 people supporting over 450,000 people across the UK. The festive season can be challenging for people living with bipolar. Triggers can include a disrupted routine, late nights, less sleep, heightened emotions, family stresses and money worries. Especially during these tough times.

No-one should have to cope with these challenges alone, which is why Bipolar UK provides peer support services to empower 1,000 people a month to stay well. We have the ambition to reach thousands more.

Bipolar is the number one reason people take their own lives, at Christmas their work is even more important.

You can donate to BipolarUK here

Street Soccer Scotland

Laura can’t help but smile when she speaks about Street Soccer Scotland. “Their work is incredible and helps so many people change their lives through a trusted, amazing network of players, team members and supporters! They are truly what they say #SameTeam, as a regular donor I see the impact they make and I’m so pleased to help share their message over Christmas also!”

The work Street Soccer Scotland do is also to help people experiencing homelessness get off the streets, and even on Christmas Day they run football matches for people to come together and feel the Christmas spirit which is amazing to see. Staff, players and volunteers coming together to support each other. Magical!

Make A Wish Ireland

Laura explained “The first time I met Make A Wish Ireland was just before Christmas in 2021, and we’ve been working with them for the past year, the first time I met them I ended up in tears hearing about the work they do to support families and children who have life limiting conditions and illnesses, and we are so delighted to work with them to support their mission!”

Make A Wish Ireland are part of the Make A Wish charity and support families across Ireland to have one wish come true, meeting a sports person, a trip or holiday somewhere magical, or even just having a iPad to use. Their work enables families to smile during difficult times and we are delighted to be able to work with them.

Leprosy Mission

We are delighted that there are ethical shops where you can stock up on beautiful things to gift to your loved ones. When we started work with Leprosy Mission we were in awe of not only their work but their amazing array of gifts, products and the Gifts-For-Life. Like helping someone learn to sew and providing them with a sewing-machine.

Did you know that you can give someone their sight back for £63? Their website shares:

Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness in leprosy patients. Your gift provides a chance for patients to retain and regain their sight, changing their lives immeasurably.

Each Gift for Life is linked to a specific project run by The Leprosy Mission. Monies generated through Gifts for Life will be transferred to the specific project.”

Pretty amazing right? You can visit their shop here
